Local Missions
At First United Methodist Church of Malvern, local mission work is at the heart of who we are. Our church is committed to serving the community through practical ministries that provide hope, encouragement, support, and compassion to people of all ages and walks of life. Whether meeting physical needs, creating spaces for fellowship, or offering opportunities for spiritual growth, we believe in being the hands and feet of Christ in our community every day.
One of the most visible outreach ministries of the church is our monthly Together on Tuesday community meal. These free meals are open to anyone in the community and provide not only nourishment, but also fellowship and connection. Volunteers prepare and serve meals each month to individuals and families who may be facing financial hardship, loneliness, or simply a need for community. Through the generosity of volunteers, donors, and local supporters, this ministry continues to grow and impact lives throughout Malvern.
The church also supports the community through the Blessing Box located at the corner of Ash Street and Pine Bluff Street. Stocked with nonperishable food and basic necessities, the Blessing Box is available 24 hours a day for anyone in need. Community members are encouraged to “take what you need and leave what you can,” creating a simple but powerful way neighbors can care for one another. In addition, the church provides food vouchers to Food Center Grocery Store to assist individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and emergency needs.
During the colder months, the Warmth for Winter clothes drive helps provide coats, gloves, hats, scarves, socks, and other winter essentials to those in need. Donations from church members and the community are distributed through outreach events and community meals, helping individuals stay warm and cared for during difficult weather conditions. This ministry has become an important reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
First United Methodist Church of Malvern also seeks to care for emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being through a variety of ongoing support ministries and classes. The Caregivers Support Group offers encouragement and fellowship for those caring for loved ones. A free yoga class provides a welcoming opportunity for healthy activity and wellness within the community. Weekly Women’s Bible Study gatherings create space for spiritual growth, friendship, and encouragement among women of all ages.
The church is deeply committed to children and youth ministries as well. UMKids meets weekly throughout the school year, providing children with a safe and nurturing environment to learn, grow, and build friendships grounded in faith. Youth are encouraged through Get Real classes that focus on real-life topics, spiritual development, and meaningful conversations. Getting Ahead classes also help individuals and families develop skills, build resources, and work toward long-term stability and personal growth.
Through all of these ministries, First United Methodist Church of Malvern strives to be a place of hope, compassion, and service for the entire community. Our mission is not only to gather within the walls of the church, but to actively reach beyond them — serving our neighbors, building relationships, and sharing God’s love in practical and meaningful ways.
